Eurodam Overview

The ms Eurodam furthers the evolution of sophisticated mid-sized ships with 11 passenger decks, a new topside Pan-Asian restaurant and lounge surrounded by panoramic views, an Explorer's Lounge bar, a new Italian restaurant adjacent to the Lido, elegant luxury jewelry boutique, new atrium bar area, an enhanced and reconfigured show lounge, and a new photographic and imaging center.

Main Dining Room

THe Main Dining Room features impeccable service and an extensive wine list. Five-course menus include continental cuisine, vegetarian and low-carb options.

Pinnacle Grill

This intimate reservations-only venue offers an elegant, sophisticated dining experience. Featuring premium Sterling Silver beef, inspired seafood dishes and many select wines rated "Excellent" by Wine Spectator - as well as distinctive Bvlgari® china, Riedel® stemware and Frette® linens.

Lido Restaurant

Lido Restaurant offers a relaxed ambiance for all three meals and features a variety of fresh, cooked-to-order specialties

Tamarind Restaurant and Silk Den Lounge

Tamarind Restaurant and Silk Den Lounge are our new Pan Asian Restaurant and lounge with panoramic views of the ocean and Lido Pool area.

Canaletto Restaurant

Canaletto Restaurant is our new restaurant, featuring savory, traditional Italian-style cuisine.

Private Cabanas

The airy, tented cabanas are located on Observation Deck in an area called the Retreat and around the mid-ship pool on Lido Deck. Furnished with modern woven chaises, ottomans and upholstered settees, all cabanas come stocked with bathrobes and plush towels, handheld fans, an Evian spray mister and iPods preloaded with great music. Chilled waters are available and guests can look forward to iced fruit skewers in mid-morning and frozen grapes, chocolate-covered strawberries and a glass of champagne in the afternoon.

The Retreat
The 14 cabanas in the Retreat offer guests a spa-like private area where they can relax and recharge surrounded by healthy refreshments and luxurious leisure amenities. Fresh fruit, salads, wraps and juices are available at the Retreat, with light breakfast options offered as well.

Lido Cabanas
Eight cabanas around the Lido pool offer a private respite in a lively area of the ship. Lunch at the Lido cabanas will be served upon request from a menu of poolside favorites from the Terrace Grill or Lido Restaurant.

Discounted select services from the Greenhouse Spa and Salon are available on port days to guests who book the cabanas. The cabanas may be rented for the day or for an entire cruise. The Retreat cabanas are $45 on port days and $75 on sea days, while the Lido cabanas are $30 and $50 respectively.

Neptune Lounge

A very special amenity exclusively for guests cruising in a Penthouse Verandah Suite or Deluxe Verandah Suite, the industry-leading Neptune Lounge features a private place to relax, socialize with other suite guests and enjoy the personalized service of a concierge. The fleet-wide lounges provide worktables, large screen television, library, sofas and chairs, wi-fi , no-host mini-bar and refreshments throughout the day.

The Culinary Arts Center

The Culinary Arts Center, presented by Food & Wine Magazine: our state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen offering interactive gourmet cooking lessons taught by our own Master Chefs or culinary guests.

Explorations Café

Explorations Café, powered by The New York Times is a comfortable, coffee house environment where you can browse through an extensive library, surf the Internet and check email or simply read the morning paper.

Greenhouse Spa & Salon

Greenhouse Spa & Salon features heavenly beauty and wellness rituals. Enjoy a facial, hot stone massage, steam in a thermal suite and have your hair and nails done for a special evening.

Show Lounge

Show Lounge features talented vocalists, dancers, illusionists, comedians and variety acts

Crow's Nest

Crow's Nest offers sweeping 270° views during the day, and a hip, fashionable nightclub each evening.

Holland America Vendam South America cruise from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso

South America - 2/2010

A nice cruise experience. Some things need work to make it an exceptional experience.

The staff and the crew were helpful and friendly, as always. I have been on over 8 cruises with Holland America and am noticing some cutbacks in quality and service. For instance, the windows were dirty on the entire cruise. I know it's hard to keep them clean while cruising, but they started out dirty and ended the same way. The AC system wasn't working when we boarded and was still having problems several days later.

Pros: Nice size ship for this itinerary

Cons: Personal choice dining needs more work

The beautiful Amsterdam

Alaska - 7/2009

After hosting a Personal Enrichment Series Food & Wine group for Signature onboard the Amsterdam, I have nothing but good things to say about the ship.

She is beautiful and with less than 1400 passengers there was never a space issue.

The ship was very clean and no matter where you looked someone was cleaning something.

I did have a talk with the Hotel Manager and he mentioned that the crew is a very cohesive group and people love to work onboard the ship. I spoke with one waiter who actually is extending his contract. I have never heard that one before. The crew was happy and it really showed when they interacted with the passengers.

I did get an outside cabin. Very spacious and very well taken care of. I was not looking forward to having a connecting door to the neighbors because of the noise. I must say that we never even heard them and they were three teenagers! Sound control is great on the ship.

Beds were phenomenal. Never slept so well on a cruise!! They use pillow top Sealy mattresses.

In the whole week I saw my cabin steward twice, but yet our stateroom was always clean! They do not use any of those housekeeping carts anymore. On other cruises they stand around the hallways at their carts waiting for passengers to leave their staterooms. Not on HAL. I do not know where they hide, but it was a pleasure to walk in the hallways without it being an obstacle course.

The food was very good at the buffet, the restaurant and of course at the Pinnacle Grill. What I liked about the buffet is that it was not self-serve. There were cooks behind the counter serving the food to you. That kept the place much cleaner then when passengers get their own food.

And guess what, the crew actually helped people to their tables if they noticed that the passenger needed help with their plates (unlike some other cruises I have done this year).

I saw no signs of the cruise line trying to save money! HAL is as good as they have always been. And if they are saving money this year it happens behind the screens and does not affect the passengers!

Overall this experience reminded me again why HAL is still my favorite (mass?) premium cruise line!!! The service can't be beat and the whole atmosphere still reminds you that you are cruising and not that you in a big floating hotel.

Oh, and the average age was a lot lower then what most people think it is!!!!

Transatlantic cruising

Venice to New York - 4/2008

Excellent food - Happy staff!

Ship was very well maintained. The crew goes out of their way to assist you in all areas of the ship. Very extensive library and wifi in many areas of the ship, however, a little slow and expensive. Outside deluxe stateroom was comfortable and we made more room to move about by turning the queen bed in to twins.

We use Holland America a lot, and the Oosterdam in particular. Even with some technical difficulties aboard, the staff more than compensates for this shortcoming with their willingness to accommodate each guest.

I have sailed on the Oosterdam 4 times in the last 18 months hosting groups. Like all ships, things go wrong from time to time, whether they be mechanical or schedule related. What sets Holland America apart, and the Oosterdam, is the willingness of the crew to step up and do what it takes to make things right.

I find the accommodations to be among the best around. The food has gotten increasingly better over the years, and the service is excellent. I am not an entertainment person, but can say with confidence that the dealers in the casino are very friendly.

We think HAL offers the best bang-for-the-buck in the cruise industry.

Pros: Holland America stands up for their product and do what it takes to make customers happy.

Cons: The ship is in somewhat rough shape, but is due to drydock in April and all of this should be repaired.
