Seabourn Odyssey along the Dalmatian Coast
Dalmatian Coast - 4/2009
Seabourn Odyssey has raised the bar in the luxury cruise sector. The Odyssey is a well thought out ship with impeccable service and consistently excellent food for its 490 passengers.
We experienced the beautiful Seabourn Odyssey sailing from Athens to Venice for seven wonderful nights. The cabins are well thought out and seem more spacious, even though they are close to the square footage of other ships in the luxury segment. The balconies are slightly larger than the other small luxury ships and the lovely marble bathrooms have two sinks along with a separate tub and shower. The TV's in the balcony staterooms were somewhat smaller than other vessels and the sound system was noticeably substandard. The service level of the entire staff on this ship is beyond any I have experienced in the past and the food in all four restaurants was superb. I felt that the shore excursions were not as sophisticated as some I had experienced on other luxury vessels and were overpriced. On my next sailing, I would investigate doing private shore excursions instead. In spite of that, I would definitely give this ship a "Six Star" rating as the best in its class.
The entertainment was more than adequate for a ship of this size but the theatre did have many columns that could block your view if you were in the wrong place.
Pros: Ship size, Service Level, Food, Choice of Restaurants, Cabins, Layout of Ship
Cons: Shore Excursions, TV in regular cabins, Columns in Theatre
